What is tube yarn?

Our Big Velvet tube yarn is made with super soft velvet on the outside and soft, pillow-like polyester fibers on the inside. It is a modern twist on traditional yarn and is easy to work with.

How much yarn is in one skein?

We sell our Big Velvet tube yarn by weight. 

NEW! Ultra Lux Velvet:  1 skein weighs 1.1 lbs / 0.5 kg and is about 15 m in length.

All of our yarn is weighted by hand, so slight variations may occur.

How big is Big?

Our Big Velvet tube yarn is about 1 inch / 2.5 cm in diameter.

What can I make with tube yarn?

Our Big Velvet tube yarn is perfect for a variety of projects, including but not limited to: blankets, pillows, baby boats, pet beds, wreaths, baskets.

How many skeins do I need?

Below is an estimate for how many skeins are typically needed for some popular projects. These are just estimates and actual amounts will depend on the yarn, the project, and the creator. The bigger the project, the bigger the variation possible. If in doubt, we recommend purchasing an extra skein (or 2)!

• Small basket - 2-3 skeins
• Baby throw - 4-5 skeins
• Baby Boat - 6 skeins
• Adult throw - 8-10 skeins
• Twin bed throw - 12-14 skeins
• Full/Queen bed throw - 18-20 skeins
• King bed throw - 20-24 skeins 

How do I connect multiple skeins?

You can either sew skeins together or tie them in a knot.
